Who We Are
Ethiopian Community of Rochester MN - ECRM is a non profit organization fiscally sponsored by Rochester Area Foundation.
Our mission is to create and build a strong community that provides social support to each other by volunteering, accessing resources and sharing Ethiopian cultural values. We share our knowledge and life experience to support newcomers to acclimate and adjust to local culture and celebrate their cultural values and preserve heritage. ECRM envisions itself as a strong, inclusive community centered organization that empowers socially responsible, and actively contributing citizens.
ECRM’s mission is to bring Ethiopians and other community members together to foster intercultural understanding among different ethnics and religious groups.
What We Do
Youth soccer program
St. George youth soccer academy operates year round coaching kids age 4 - 17 every Friday.
Parents walk around the block while kids practice soccer.
Fathers bike group meet every Saturday when the weather is good to go out.
Cultural heritage showcase different artifact, food, music performance, hair braiding, and coffee ceremony at different events and venues such as Walk around the world, Festival of culture, Christmas around the world, and other events for the past many years.
Amharic language education at the EOTC provided everyday during summer and Saturdays when schools are in session.
