Who We Are

Community Food Response is a food rescue and distribution organization, meeting the basic food needs of Rochester's residents.  We are unique in the food world in that our food is almost exclusively ready to eat, therefore clients without kitchens or cooking supplies can benefit. CFR works by saving food from our donors that would otherwise by thrown out, then working with volunteer to sort this food and make into bags for our clients. We offer food Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. We do not have an eat-in facility - the food is taken home and reheated.

What We Do

Community Food Response (CFR) is an organization that distributes prepared food to needy families in the Rochester area. We offer this food free of charge to ensure families in our area do not go hungry. No one is turned away. CFR has been operating in Rochester since 1993. Partners in this effort include restaurants including Canadian Honker and Chester's; grocery stores such as Hy-Vee; nursing homes such as Samaritan Bethany and Madonna Towers; and hospitals - St Mary's, Methodist, and Olmsted Hospital.   Local schools, organizations and event centers also reach out and donate as they are able. Through the generosity of these partners, and the willingness of volunteers to pick up the food and get it to our facility, we are able to continue to offer this service to local families.
