Who We Are

Hiawatha Homes was founded when a small group of advocates, families and community members identified a need within our community to support and advocate for individuals with disabilities.

Since opening the Children’s Home in 1976, Hiawatha Homes has expanded to become a diversified system of family support services and 19 community-based homes. Today, over 70 individuals benefit from Hiawatha’s community based residential homes. The vision of quality, loving, comprehensive and individualized care for each person is still our number one goal after 45 years: providing quality care for individuals. Today, individuals benefit from advocacy, community involvement, nursing and support therapies, and social and recreational activities.
