About the Program This program provides emergency cash assistance in the form of gift cards and vouchers. The assistance can only be accessed once per quarter and is intended to provide a safety net for our neighbors in need.

 

What You'll Do

Check phone messages, return calls and set up appointments for clients Meet with clients, establish or establish their paperwork, dispense gift cards

Time Commitment Tuesdays and Thursdays, half-days either morning or afternoon.

 

What We're Looking For

Minimal computer and phone skills Comfort interacting respectfully and warmly with families from diverse cultural backgrounds No prior experience required, just a willingness to serve!

Volunteer: Rochester Catholic Charites Overnight Shelter

We are looking for Volunteers to help our staff and guest.

Two shifts available 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM or 6:00 AM to 8:30 AM

Assist with either opening or  closing the center. Occasional daytime opportunities for cleaning and organizing the center.

Intake (evening) duties could include helping guests to secure their belongings, helping them get laundry done, serving dinner, and some light cleaning. 

Exit (morning) duties could include monitoring the kitchen during breakfast, helping guests organize their belongings, and some light cleaning. 

Both shifts offer opportunities to interact with our guests and acknowledge their inherent dignity. This is the most important single task we do.

About the Program This program provides monthly grocery kits to refugee families in the Rochester area. Many families in our community are still navigating difficult circumstances and working toward stability, and access to nutritious food is a critical part of that journey. These grocery deliveries are a tangible way to show up for our neighbors so that they know their community is still here to support them.What You'll DoPick up pre-packed grocery kits (two boxes per family) from the Catholic Charities office in Rochester when the delivery truck arrivesDeliver kits directly to assigned refugee families at their homesCoordinate delivery times with families as needed to accommodate their work schedulesTime Commitment Deliveries take place on the second Thursday of each month, May through September (5 deliveries total), beginning at 9:00 AM at the Catholic Charities office.
