NAMI Connection Support Group is a free and confidential group for adults living with mental health conditions. As someone living with a mental health condition, you may face unique challenges: social stereotypes and misunderstandings, complex family dynamics, and changing medical developments. It can be overwhelming, and attending a NAMI Connection Support Group can help.
We are looking for Connection Support Group Facilitators to co-lead and facilitate support group sessions (in person and/or virtual) for individuals affected by mental health conditions.
Required Qualifications:
- Must identify as a person who lives with a mental health condition and who is willing to share their wellness journey.
- Must pass a background check.
- Able to create an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful space through action and language.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Have excellent communication skills including leading and guiding group conversation, listening empathetically to provide support and encouraging group participation as appropriate.
Commitments:
- Successfully complete the NAMI Connection Support Group Facilitator training (16 hours)
- Partner with an assigned mentor for 2-4 support group meetings
- Facilitate 2 meetings per month; 90 minutes per meeting, 15 minutes preparation, 15 minutes debriefing after the meeting (3-5 hours/month)
- Attend quarterly Support Group Facilitator meetings (1.5 hours)
- One-year minimum commitment.
