Who We Are
GATEway is a non-profit gifted education advocacy group. It is a volunteer-based organization comprised of parents, educators, and community members. It offers periodic programs and educational offerings of interest to families of gifted children. It is not a school district department and does not provide extracurricular activities nor testing, counseling, or placement services. GATEway's parent organization, the Minnesota Council for the Gifted and Talented (MCGT) is an affiliate of the National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC).
What We Do
GATEway is the Rochester Chapter of the Minnesota Council for the Gifted and Talented, a statewide not-for-profit organization that advocates for educational services for gifted and talented students. GATEway supports academic challenge, rigor, and depth in the Rochester Public Schools and offers annual programs open to the public. GATEway was organized as the Rochester Chapter of the Minnesota Council for the Gifted and Talented in 1989.
GATEway's largest programming event is an annual Science Fair for students in grades 3-6, where they display and explain their science projects in a public setting. The Fair is not limited to just gifted and talented students. Participation in the Fair is open to all interested students in any public, private or home school in the Rochester area. Professionals from various fields offer analysis and suggestions for participants. More information can be found at rochestergateway.com.
