Who We Are

Volunteers (known as "blanketeers") make handmade blankets - knit, crocheted, quilted, or tied or no-sew fleece - to be donated to seriously ill or traumatized children, birth through 17 years. Completed blankets are distributed through hospitals and various agencies serving children in the Rochester/SE MN area. Optional monthly meetings provide an opportunity for blanketeers to sort, label, and bag blankets for delivery, as well as work on individual projects. Volunteers can also work on blankets on their own and leave them at one of our official drop-off sites, Kelley's Quality Sewing Center or The Quilting Cupboard. BEFORE MAKING TIED FLEECE BLANKETS, PLEASE CONTACT THE CHAPTER COORDINATOR FOR GUIDELINES!

What We Do

  • Our first mission to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer ?blanketeers.? It is also our mission to provide a rewarding and fun service opportunity for interested individuals and groups in local communities, for the benefit of children. Project Linus began in the Denver area in 1995 and has grown to include over 350 chapters across the United States. To date, over 4 million blankets have been distributed. The local chapter of Project Linus was formed in September, 2011, with a kickoff meeting in January 2012. It serves children in Rochester and the surrounding area.
