Rochester GATEway’s annual Science Fair is open to ALL interested students in grades 3-6 currently enrolled in any public, private or home schools in the greater Rochester area. The GATEway Science Fair will be held on Saturday, February 25th, 2017 from 12:30 PM – 4:30 PM in the Mayo Clinic Gonda Building/Landow Atrium.
Before the Science Fair, students think of a topic that interests them and then they conduct an experiment at home to learn more about it. They explain their experiment with pictures, words, and graphs on a display board. The day of the Fair, participants bring their boards to the Science Fair to explain their projects to reviewers. Students see a fun Science Museum of MN presentation and receive a certificate of participation, three written reviews of their project, and a cool t-shirt.
The focus of this Science Fair experience is on personal growth and being a positive learning experience as opposed to prize winning.
Registration is through Rochester Community Education. Look for the GATEway Science Fair course in the fall and winter brochures or on their website at https://rochester.thatscommunityed.com/
Volunteers are needed year round on the planning team to work on registration, publicity, t-shirt design, volunteer recruitment, and more.
